Hi, I’m Mai,
the founder behind Studio MAI.
Studio MAI began with a belief that interiors should feel deeply personal — not simply beautiful, but restorative, intuitive, and quietly aligned with the people who live within them.
Over time, that belief has grown into a practice shaped by observation, refinement, and thoughtful restraint. I’m drawn to the spaces we return to most often — the bedroom at the end of the day, the wardrobe that simplifies our mornings, the rooms that hold both stillness and life. These are the places where design has the greatest impact, not through excess, but through care.
Studio MAI is a reflection of that approach. Each project begins by understanding how you live, what you need from your space, and how atmosphere can support the rhythm of everyday life. Whether designing a private residence, a considered hospitality space, or a quieter corner within the home, the intention remains the same: to create rooms that feel calm, personal, and made to last.
Our Approach
A Studio MAI interior begins with observation — how a room is lived in, how light moves through it, and how it can feel calmer, softer, and more personal. Through thoughtful restraint and a focus on atmosphere.
Our Projects
Our work spans private residences, bedroom refinement, wardrobe design, hospitality styling, and curated objects. Each project is approached with the same care: to create rooms that feel timeless, intuitive, and entirely lived in.
Our References
Travel, architecture, boutique hotels, galleries, and natural materials all inform the Studio MAI world. These influences are not followed literally, but translated into atmosphere — through texture, palette, proportion, and mood.
Our Philosophy
We believe good design should support the way you live — not just visually, but emotionally and practically. A room should bring ease to the day, comfort to the body, and calm to the mind.
April 2019 – The Idea
Studio MAI began with a simple belief: that interiors should feel calm, deeply personal, and supportive of everyday life. What started as an instinct for quieter, more intentional spaces gradually became a design practice shaped by observation, restraint, and atmosphere.
July 2021 – The Bedroom
The bedroom became one of the clearest expressions of the Studio MAI philosophy — a space for rest, ritual, and renewal. Through softness, proportion, and thoughtful material choices, the room was designed to support stillness and everyday ease.
September 2022 – The Studio
The Studio evolved into a place where design, atmosphere, and personal living could meet. It became a reflection of the wider MAI world — thoughtful, edited, and quietly expressive, balancing beauty with practical calm.
February 2023 – The Ritual
Ritual became a central part of the work — how a room supports the way we wake, pause, gather, and return to ourselves. Design was approached not only as a visual language, but as a framework for living gently and well.
June 2024 – Final Touches
The final layer is often the quietest: a shift in lighting, a softened palette, a chair placed just so. These details bring warmth and completeness, allowing a space to feel settled, personal, and fully its own.
